I've been busy busy busy over the past few months and instead of spending my spare cash on beer and surfboards I want to spend it on growing my business. What I want to do is try and make myself look more professional with van sign writing, personalised workwear and a decent website.

Has anybody got any recommendations for workwear I've seen 1 on Facebook which looks ok and website design I've spoken to a couple of companies and looking around £800 and as always I'm having people say that's expensive etc etc. It's nice to have someone recommend me places

Van sign writing is a must as its free adds and personalised work wear makes you look smart and improves your image

At the moment I've got magnetic signs on as when I originally set up I wanted to be able to remove them for subby work although I never did any.

What I've been thinking over the last couple of weeks as I'm hanging out my rear from working too hard is eventually I want to look at taking someone on so I can take a step back from the install side so I need to start thinking more as a business and not as a plumber. So over the next 2 years aim to be at the point I can employ someone and I feel making myself look more professional will help.

Did that include seo or just the website. I was quoted 800 which included seo which is the most important thing to me as I don't have either the time or knowledge to do this.

The workwear I have found on a Facebook gas page paragon workwear where they do 5 polos 2 jumpers and 1 soft shell jacket for £100! Which I thought was quite good? Anybody used them?

Just had my order on Friday stuff is good

Try yell.com
They had a thing going where they set up the site for one or two hundred and maintain it for £20 per month. You did get 5 pages and can change content anytime you like.

£800 sounds a lot

I had them out when I set up and they were asking stupid money and to be quite honest I don't really want to deal with them as I think they are a horrible company who don't leave me alone at the best of times!

Good point !
They do mither a lot !

Van signwriting is a big yes, keep it simple.
No big esay about everything you do, no one reads it.
Name, job description, number.
All fancy explanations on website.
That's my opinion.
Dressing clean and smart very important too, like you're thinking.
All about first impression

Clean? Not a chance my customers are lucky if I haven't got a nice combination of sweat and soot lol.

I am thinking about getting polo shirts for service/ maintenance and then t shirts for installs that way I can keep a clean polo in the van for when I'm doing install work.

I meant clean start to the day lol.
Van clean too.

I end up same state by end of the day.

Polo shirts, overall pants, sweat shirts in winter, boiler suit for up chimney and underfloor days.
Tivek suits are handy too, you ever use them ?

Excuse my ignorance , SEO ? Its for everything pal , I email them pics and reviews but I think you can put them on if you want

Search engine optimisation, basically getting above everybody else. I've got prices for just build a website and launch it the rest is up to me that £800 means they keep on it for a year (or that's the impression I got) I had another quote of £480 with the same but that was with the local rip off radio station.

Ah gotcha , they say that about 10 reviews on google get you on the first page , I was for boiler replacment in our area, last time I looked .

Millsy just a note about google through soletrader , although it may be all of them .

Customers try to leave me a review and one of two things happen

One , they cant leave a review and end up emailling me the review , I forward it on , it goes on my "review" page but doesnt go on google ( not good )
Two , they get straight through on google and leave a review , no probs (very good)

I have had this out with soletrader and have never got an answer , some go on , some dont lol

£800 is a lot look at cyberfyn on eBay for work wear it's awesome. Professional embroidery and hard wearing gear
