Hi fellow plumbers
i have been installing boilers heating plumbing etc for 18 odd years now ,never realy been into boiler servicing or breakdown work its an area i would like to now specialise in .i am going to book myself on mr-combi 1 day boiler course in bedford has any1 been on this course is it any good?

could i survive just doing central heating and breakdown work as i am getting fed up with install work ,what are the average hourly rates people charge for breakdown work in the southeast

Hi. not been on Mr Combi course, but might be worth visiting PHEX show London 8 & 9Dec, meet the manufacturers, some might offer you a free training course on their boilers.

i attended a ariston training course a couple of years back, biggest load of old rubbish all they did was try and plug there boilers .
i take it not all manufacturers are like that or are they?

Been to loads of manu' courses all very enlightening,Some of the reps have a number of free places available to their courses. tell them you want service & repair training, not installation[sales]
If you ask the right questions about specific faults on their boilers they give you valuable info'.

actualy i have just been on a free course (aggis might laugh at this because of my earlier question on here) it was with ideal...they were plugging there new logic plus range...but the fault finding and servicing detail was excellent & it was free......shame about previous boilers! agency workers get £50 per completed breakdown or roughly about £20ph....well thats what i have been paid.cheers

Just start doing it mate. work through the logical fault finding steps to eliminate things and you will get there in the end. Might take a bit of time at first but you can't beat hands on experience. Theres allways these forums and tech helplines to give a helping hand.

Hi, Can anyone advise as to why the cold water to my bathroom keeps airlocking? This originally happened about 12 months ago and has happened 3-4...
