I've been using Myson product for years and saw this article on a charity bike ride done by one of their apprentices, thought other people might be interested:
An apprentice at Tyneside heating products manufacturer Myson is getting on his bike to ride 240 miles (387km) across Andalucia in five days for charity.
Grant Cryer, 18, from Gateshead, will ride from Granada to Seville in aid of the Action for Children charity in September, and is currently fundraising to meet the £3,000 target set for entry into the event.
An apprentice engineer at Myson’s Team Valley paint plant, Grant is also starting the process of training for the event, which will see him cycle an average of almost 50 miles per day.
A fundraising quiz is being run by Myson at The Lancastrian Suite, Dunston, on May 5th, as part of the efforts to support Grant.
Action for Children is a charity which supports and speaks out for vulnerable and neglected children and young people across the UK.
Grant, a former pupil at Joseph Swan School who has been with Myson for 18 months, said: “I don’t cycle very much, so there is a lot of training to be done, but it will be a great experience and worth all of the effort.
“When I was asked if I would like to take part, I thought it was too good an opportunity to miss, but the fundraising must come first, so we are looking at events, such as the quiz night, to get people involved and support Action for Children.”
Anybody who would like to support Grant’s efforts can send cheques payable to Action For Children to Kelly Smith, Myson, Eastern Avenue, Team Valley Trading Estate, Gateshead, Tyne & Wear, NE11 0PG.
