Plummed

Hello,

We're using a general builder to do some work on our house. He found a leak in a waste pipe in our kitchen and got a plumber in to replace it. This wasn't an emergency call out but they've just sent an invoice through for £350. The work quotes is 'Supply & Fit Black Soil Stack Pipe 4"Inch'. This seems really steep. Am I being unreasonable?

Thanks.

Depends on amount of stack replaced, and what the original was. If replacing cast iron and renewing connections over two floors cost seems reasonable. more detail needed of extent of work.

Thanks for the speedy responses! It wasn't cast iron, just a large plastic pipe. As far as I'm aware, all the work carried out was in the kitchen rather than inside but I'll find out. Thank again.

how long did he take roughly?

I can't be sure as we're not living in the house at the moment but I know he arrived around 16.30 and was finished by the evening.

It may not have been an "emergency", but he started work when most folk are about to finish. Why?

did you recieve the plumbers invoice direct from the plumber or from the builder? soil pipe and fittings arent cheap but the builder may have put a ridiculous % on top of the plumbers invoice,

Came at 4.30 and finished by the evening , jeeezzzzz sounds like Dick Turpin plumbers .com. Sounds too much to me
