A service engineer mate of mine did a landlords on a boiler, and all the tenant was bothered about was seeing if he would condemn it. It's a large house and the bills are high she said. If you condemn it we can have a cheaper to run system.

he did all the checks and said, there's nothing wrong with it.

they are on a pre pay meter, so have to re-light the pilot every time the run out of credit.

Then a few days ago he gets an irate call from the letting agent, who says the tenant has had a shock from the boiler and is saying needs it replacing now! She is going to ring gas safe as its only been a couple of weeks since being checked.

my mate goes out to find the situation below. And asks, "did you get a shock when lighting the boiler after your credit ran out"? Yes was the reply!!!!

looks like they've been messing.

Probably shocked from pressing the piezo ignition button, as it happens sometimes. Loads of volts no amps, no problem. Earth wire in the image should be connected to the case though.

Yes that's correct. Apparently they tried pulling the casing off, which pulled off the earth lead, then they stuck it into anything nearby.

Should have blocked flue and left on full tilt for a while. All landlords will need an efficient heating system by 2018 or it's a ÂŁ5k fine. Part of the green deal legislation

an ideal wrs i see its a great boiler but probably on its last legs but it looks like some joker has wired the earth in to the piezo
