hi, had a few problem in january with blocked pipes from return flow from cylinder? with help from you guys i sorted problem. alas last week hot water started cutting out no hot pipes from return. heating side is fine. is it possible that coil has stopped working and is there any way i can tell if cylinder needs replacing, cylinder is 24yrs old. no dirty water is showing through taps. ive released any air and all pipes have been flushed. help wanted please....

has the hw zone or 3port mid position valve been checked to see if it's working correctly? Sounds very likely this will be the problem providing the cylinder returns blockage has been cleared correctly
 
hi thanks for reply. my system is gravity fed with no 3way valves, i chased every pipe from header tank to boiler when problem first started in january. uprouting floors etc. all electrics are working boiler is a floor potterton type. changed pump near cylinder and thats fine.

mostlikley to be air in the coil or the header tank ballvalve is frozen in the up position
