Apart from studding and clips were you given any thing else? What size are the rawlplugs?

I've been given everything I need, however the ceiling is very thin & I manage to drill through very quickly, I don't know how deep or what size drill bit to use. I'm really stuck and getting very annoyed with myself

Of the top of my head its a 12mm bit for the ancor but if your only running 1/2" or 3/4" pipe can you just use brown raw plus (7/8mm drill bit)

How am I getting on? Well I decided to stop drilling holes in the ceiling & started drilling holes in the wall, there was solid brick which meant I could drill deeper & put those rodding plugs (no sure what to call them) into the wall. I've basically got to find solid brick in the ceiling in order to get the plugs to stay in. There are a number of holes where the previous building has tried to find such bricks & he appears to have been successful, so successful in fact, that's he's gone on holiday, which is why I am here. I appreciate everyone's help though.

Interesting thread this.

Difficult for me to imagine anyone installing pipework not knowing how pipe fixings work.
I could be wrong though.

Incidentally, I've never encountered a brick/breeze block ceiling.
