fitting second hand appliances

Can someone point in the direction of the relevant tb or wish to inform before I route throw a load of boxes, one of my little old ladies is getting a second hand oven to replace hers now just unsure. Am I right in thinking it should have relevant instru tions available and up to date safety devices ?
