    Hi all
    Looking for some help please!
It concerns an ideal logic plus 24 combi.
When you switch the central heating on it fires up fine. All the radiators get up to temperature. It then stops and the radiators cool down. All good! They do not come back on, even when the room is noticeably cooler/ cold. If left for a number of hours you can eventually switch the CH back on and it will go through this cycle again.
Weirdly if you set the TRVs to say 3 they will heat to 3 and stop. If you then turn it to 4 it will start up, heat to 4 and stop again and nor re start.
The ideal logic engineer has been out twice. He says there is no fault on the boiler (as no fault code shows) which has acted like this since new. Is about 2 years old now. Engineer also dais its probably the room stat. And because it's not ideal he won't check it. Anyway the stat has been replaced and the problem is the same. All the TRVs have been changed and still the same. System had been checked for airlocks/ slipped inserts etc.
Can anybody suggest what the problem might be, many thanks : )

Sounds like the boiler works fine, what stat/ controls do you have? Make and model

Is the room stat in the cold room? Away from a heat sorce?

Does the heating come back on if you then turned your room thermostat up?

Have you got a timer built into the front of the boiler? Is the timer set on timed or constant/on?

    Hi
Thanks for response, the stat is in the best coolest place furthest away from any heat source. I will get back to you with the stat make and model. It's been changed once already to a different type of stat and still the same problem...

    Hi
Thanks for response, i'm starting to think it's a wiring issue but it's only two wires!

2 wires at the roomstat could be the issue depending on what roomstat you have!

I’ve heard this before does it cause issues with the room thermostat not switching once room temp has dropped? Like I say only heard this from colleagues before but interested to know what the reason is Alpha man

Does the display on the boiler stay on when the room thermostat is turned down?

I use a lot of the dial type Honeywell room stats and they need at least a neutral for them to switch back properly,

Hi all, thanks for help so far... its not 2 wires. It was changed when the stat was changed. I have attached two pictures. one of the stat one of the single channel timer. The timer is Drayton LP711 and stat is Drayton RTS8.
In answer to the question does when the stat is moved up does the boiler start- yes it does..it will run for a short time then just stops again as before. Then goes cold

What is the black wire connected to in the background of the first pic?
Has it always done this or only when the new stat was fitted?

Not sure, i was not there when it was fitted. Looks like a 'choc' type connector will have a further look tomorrow..

Does the radiator in the room the stats in get hot first when heatings on? It may need to be balanced down to keep that space cooler. Sounds like the other rooms cool down fast but the room with the stat stays warm for a lot longer

Hi Thanks for the reply. The system has been balanced. Even switched the nearest rad to the stat off to see if it was the same. Same thing happened. From what has been said so far it seems to be a problem with the stat or timer not letting the boiler flash up once the rads/ rooms have cooled. But since they have been changed i can only assume it's something in the wiring set up..?

change it out for a wireless rf stat

Quickest way to fault find, disconnect state wiring at boiler and link across. Then know if it is stated wiring or boiler.
