Discuss IMMERSION HEATER TRIPPING RCD AFTER FITTING NEW CHANGEOVER SWITCH in the Plumbing Jobs | The Job-board area at PlumbersForums.net

Hi, I have a 6 months old hot water cylinder (vented) to which there are top and bottom immersion rods fitted. Only the bottom was connected so I have just put in a "sink/bath" change over switch.

The bottom one works fine but the top one trips the RCD when the thermostat is in the on position.

I have changed over the rods in case this was the problem - but no difference.
My assumption is that it is my wiring or (less likely) a faulty change over switch. I have treble checked my wiring and I can't see where I have gone wrong.

Any ideas?
