Context- moved into a new flat with three comfort cooling units (FCU fed by a chilled water system). All good for 3 months and now they are making this noise when the condensate pumps run to clear the drip trays. I'm told it is 'normal' - I don't agree.
With the system running I hear three noises: 1) the noise of the fans in the FCU which run at varying rates until the desired temperature is achieved (barely audible and acceptable), 2) a buzzing noise when the condensate pump runs (sounds a bit like an electrical sub station, very quiet and well insulated, you can hear it in the background in the audio clip - again acceptable) and 3) also when the pumps run, the knocking noise in the linked audio clip (drives me up the wall when in the lounge and wakes me up at night in the bedroom - not acceptable).
The condensate pumps also seem to be overused - the one in the bedroom now runs pretty much non stop, the lounge comes on for about 30 seconds every 5 minutes or so at certain times of day. Both seem way too frequent.
Would appreciate advice on whether I'm being over-sensitive before I escalate the problem further with the developer. Their contractor changed a float switch in the bedroom and now is reluctant to return (saying the noise is normal) and has passed complaint on to the manufacturer.
