Hi all - would be really grateful for any advice on an issue I'm having with a macerator. It is connected to a sink, shower and washing machine and works fine at draining the sink and washing machine but the shower doesn't seem to activate the pump and so water just sits in the shower tray and doesn't drain.

If I turn on the sink tap whilst the shower is running then the macerator pump activates and the shower will drain, but something about the shower water alone sitting in the shower tray isn't enough to activate the macerator. The macerator used to drain the shower fine - this has only started happening recently.

Any ideas what the problem could be?

Have you checked the trap in the shower isnt blocked with hair.
Hi - yeah I've checked and cleaned the shower trap but there wasn't any hair or blockage in it really.

Also the shower does actually drain fine, but only if I have the tap in the sink running as that seems to activate the macerator but the shower alone won't get the pump to activate.

Sounds like it needs a clean out and sevice then if shower water alone wont activate it.

Hi, I was wondering if you ever managed to solve this. We’ve just moved into a new property and have the exact same issue! Hoping that it’s not an expensive fix 🤞🏼

Did you manage to resolve this at all?? I’m having the same problem!

Hi, Can anyone advise as to why the cold water to my bathroom keeps airlocking? This originally happened about 12 months ago and has happened 3-4 times since. It’s an upstairs bathroom, fed from a tank in the attic. The tank is about 8 Meters away and feeds a bath, sink and toilet. The tank...
