Any of you guys have this? Need a good, fast, strong core drill

Also i need a good set of the usual cores 1 1/4", 1 1/2", 4", 5".
Anyone advice a set? Been keeping a eye on the makita core set. Will put a photo when i find a pic

I have the Makita core drill, top piece of kit. I buy my bits from Brandon Tool Hire as and when needed. I only use the 5" and 2" cores though.

brilliant bit of kit wouldnt use anything else. had a mate do an install with me and borrowed his, went out that day and got myself one never regretted it. dont get the 8406c the clutch kicks in alot earlier and slips alot. (bloke in the shop who sold me mine advised this)

as for core kits i have this. PDP DC12864 Dry Diamond Core Drill Kit | eBay

got it on offer in hire station for £70 so was well worth it

i have one its been great, the gearbox oil seal failed after 4 years and was £120 to fix

Just watched the video, they look impressive. Thing is, would they be worth it and teeth wont die out too fast

Glad you mentioned about the 'c version' its well spoke of and says its more 'superior' than its other version.

I like makitas and have a range of their lxt range. All i need now is a core drill and good set of cores! So you guys recommend these

all depends how often you use them and what your drilling through but same goes for any core set tbh.

Agree with Tamz I have the ddm2 it's a excellent bit of kit, and their core bits are great also.

the makita drill is very good. the makita core bits are fine but the arbors that come with are junk. If i had the money id get a set of marcrist cores or if your stupidly rich you could get some hilti cores but you would have to make love to them to get your moneys worth :)

Screw that! Im skint! Havnt earnt any money in the past 3 months and already spent £10k lollll

Where i live customers think you will install full heatings for £200 alone lol

Lol honestly mate... It is so hard, wish i didnt set up self employed. Just cant compete with some other plumbers. Theres this one guy whos rough as hell and god knows how hes even making money. Worked out hes working for less than £8 per hour self employed... Absolute crazy!!

follow him around, riddor his work so he gets knocked of the GS list so you get more work ;)

i understand what your saying, you have to set a min you are willing to work for and stick to it. for £8 an hour your better off stacking shelves.

In that case get the Sparky core drill, I've got one and its a good bit of kit.

Originally bought the Makita but swapped it for the Sparky at half the price. I do like Makita though.

I know, times are hard! Ive applyed for the cough cough... Police too!
If i get in there ill be selling nearly all my gear apart from hand tools and my combi drill! Everything else is close to brand new!

I had it, was happy with it. But it was stolen, so now I'm back to using an SDS. :(

I have that drill and it has served me well but I find that it seems to jam in the wall a lot easier than it used to. I don't know if the clutch in it is starting to go or not.

As for core bits, I have found that for the smaller sizes anyway, the PTS own brand Tradesave core bits are as good as any.
