Hi my names Chris and to cut along story short I currently work in the cnc machining background working on aerospace parts. I'm 27 years old an have started to regret my current career path and wish to do plumbing. So have managed to save up and put myself on an evening plumbing level 2 diploma course for the next 2 years.

Basically I would like to get experience and will offer to work a Saturday to get some hands on experience behind me. I don't wish to be paid, as I'm training and I would be on their time. But is this possible. The dream would be to one day hand my notice in and become self employed. I will dedicate everything to be able to change my career and continue providing for my family. But what are my odds ?

Thank you for your time guys !

Hello and welcome Chris

Good luck on your plumbing ventures

I feel for you, it's not an easy thing to retrain and gain experience.

It's a viscous circle. You can't get work without experience and you can't get experience without work.

I can't think how you'd get around it.

I know people who have retrained, It was hard to do and they had a lot of support from their other halves. (financially as well as morally).

There are people on here who have been where you are. I have know doubt they will give sound advice although it may not be exactly what you want to hear!

I wish you luck.
