Ok so I'm doing a bathroom at the mo. the electrician had a dilemma with trying to work out how to fit an extractor fan.

The house has the walls tiled (like roof tiles) externally. The sparky didn't want to go drilling a core etc.

I'm interested because I may hit this problem when I want to put a flue through such a wall in the future.

What do you guys do in this situation. How do you do it and make good afterwards.

Thanks

the tiles will be fitted to battens along the wall so these also need cutting.
I would remove the section of tiles then cut the hole, then individually cut and replace the tiles
with grinder diamond wet saw etc.

You have to remove a fair few of the tiles as their all nailed.
make the hole in between the battens first then hang the boiler to the hole as you want to cut as little of the battens possible making it easier to get the tiles back on.

Use a flat lead slate and replace the tiles around the flue cutting to suit.

I just core through from the inside carefully and pug up round the flue following the profile of the tiles. If you're too brutal with the core drill you can dislodge tiles so gently gently.

Basically wall tiles are a PITA when it comes to core drilling!
