Hello everyone,

I'm looking into purchasing a powerflushing machine, I do quiet a bit of work on heating systems and think this would be a good service to add. I live in the north east and all the rads and systems seemed be gunged up.

I am swaying more towards the Fernox Powerflow mk3, has any one got one? and what do you you think of it?

Is there any other alternatives you suggest looking at?

I want the full kit a flusher, test kit and tds meter, the cheapest iv been quoted is £1,074.55 BHL.co.uk.

I did originally want the flushing filter too but they are around £672 which I think is far too much! so my plan is to adapt some fittings and attach something like a Fernox boiler buddy, as this will do the same job while still providing the visual of it removing the magnetite.

Any other cheaper good suppliers?

Thanks Dan.

I really hate those machines.. they just dont seem to clean properly.
last time I used one on a system and changed the boiler, added a magnaclean, I checked the magnet the next day and it was covered !!
that was 15mins each direction on every rad, a whole day flushing..

I used a rothenberger machine.

last flush I did, I used the mains.. was perfect and took less than half a day.

I've been having good results with the MagnaCleanse Complete Flushing System, 400 quid

You obviously didn't do it properly. :D

could be mate.. I had black water coming when dumping.. just left loads behind still in the system..
would be happy to give it another go but using the mains works so well..

If you want the best get a norstrom proflush unit

Did you use an agitator?

Also different systems so you'll never really know.

Did you agitate the rads?

no, admit that I didnt.

Give it a go next time, it's one of the key points to do IMHO. I'll always try and:

1) Connect to the pump head where possible
2) If not, connect onto the primaries
3) Use heat to help activate the chemicals
4) Use an agitator and/or remove the rads
5) Make go use of the flow reversal of the PF machine

cheers.. much of that wasnt possible.. without going into too much detail, it was 'one of those' jobs.. 3 story house, system hadn't ran for 6 months (might have something to do with it) so couldnt dose the system beforehand with cleaner.. I did 15 mins flow in each direction and did dump plenty of black water.. thought it had done the job, until I checked the magnaclean.
live and learn on that one for me..
