Hi All

So with my new boiler on the way and to give it the best chance of longevity I am going to install a Scale reducer, we live in a part of the UK with the hardest of water and it trashes most things eventually.

I am going to buy a Scalewatcher or a Combimate or maybe even BOTH and was wondering what you guys thought of either and what actually works best.

Also if i ran both would they counteract each other or have a negative effect on how they work?

Thanks all for any advice given

Spend your money on a proper water softener (with resin and salt). Nothing else is needed and, in my experience, nothing else actually works.

Yep that may well be the end game but the price of new boiler and fitting has wiped me out for the time being so was looking for something that would help in the meantime, I can see a bit of the science behind the Combimate but im a bit dubious of the Scalewatcher electrontic version.

Was hoping for feedback on what works best for limescale short of fitting a water softener system, the Plumber fitting new boiler recommended the Combimate.

combi mate but you’ll be replacing it in 3 months as it’s used the media / balls best to get a softener asap
