I have an existing shower which I've removed and exposed the two pipes from the wall.

If I was taking a guess they're around 2cm ish in diameter.

I have the Mira shower here is the instruction guide:

Usually I would replace the shower as is but on this occasion the wall brackets supplied are the same size as the two water pipes on the wall.

This led me to believe I can just screw in the bar valve as is. I tried this and it connects. The issue I'm facing is the concealing plates that come with the shower can't be used then as the pipe on the wall becomes short.

Do I need to return the shower for another one?
If not could I leave the concealing plates out?
Or is there another extending nut I could use to extend the pipe on the wall which would give enough for the bar valve to fix in with the concealing plate?
