Just wondering if it's worth spending the £45-£50 on some jaw droppers. I just don't seem to be able to get the back nuts up tight enough with my normal basin spanner. Does anyone here use them and are they better. They get good reviews on screwfix.

Managed fine with a basin spanner - you need to get a decent one, ideally one of the interchangeable ended ones.

When the basins are off the wall I usually use a standard box spanner.

recently got a set of bearhuggerssss off ebay for £29-00 inc postage which was a bargain and they work well, saved me some grazed knuckles.

i have used the same Monument whb wrench for the last 20yrs since my tools got knicked out of my van, excellent tool, never tried anything else

Same here, use box spanner or monument whb wrench. I must admit I like the idea of a bear hug spanner set.

But why is it, that it seems when your on an emergency job you revert back to the old tried and trusted tools. Footies, Conex spanner and the like.

Is it because we know these work?

agree with kirk and bernie monument basin spanner(crow or duckfoot) and a box spanner all you will ever need

its always a crows foot up here, never duck (actually we say craw, as in draw, cause we aint too posh round my way, there are only craws flying about, no crows)

We run a community village hall and have a large kitchen provided for the use of hirers. This includes a Lincat SLR9 gas cooker which I believe is a 23.8Kw appliance with all six burners and oven on max. This was installed some 10 years ago and has passed all subsequent Gas Safety inspections as...
