Hi,

We recently had someone in to fit some new basin and bath taps in our bathroom upstairs. Nothing else was touched, apart from turning off the water from the stopcock under the kitchen sink (there were no valves fitted in the bathroom to turn water off locally).

We've now noticed that the water pressure of our kitchen sink taps has completely changed, it's much weaker, and also when you put the hot or cold tap on, and then the other after, it makes no difference to the pressure at all, when normally of course it would get stronger. In the new bathroom basin taps, the pressure has increased.

Any help and advice on why this is happening would be much appreciated!

Remove and check filter/diffuser on tap spout (if fitted of course) it may be blocked with debris from when the main was turned back on

are the kitchen taps now fed through small bore flexi pipes where they were copper pipes before?

Thank you for your replies so far! (sorry if I ask silly questions, fairly new homeowner so a lot of things are very new to me).

Main stop tap is fully turned on - had the guy who fitted it come round and check few bits yesterday but he's a bit stumped.

Will see if the tap has a diffuser and if it's blocked, but I wouldn't have thought that would be it, just because when we put the other tap on, it doesn't increase the pressure at all, it stays exactly the same.

Nothing has been changed to the kitchen taps at all, it was just the bathroom taps upstairs that were changed, and that was literally just the taps, no pipes or anything

sometimes when you turn off then back on water main it throws debris up the pipes that can collect in the diffuser the other favourite is a ball valve
