Nothing complicated or expensive ideally. He has students and wants to be able to change setting on TRV now and then but then stop it being tampered with. Thanks

I think Drayton do a tamper proof version, which you set then the cover just turns but doesn't alter the settings

I thought that's what lockshield valves where for,

What's the problem with people adjusting them, if there too hot in the room

Yeah I saw those. I reckon he'll think they're too expensive. I'll probably suggest normal TRV's and tell him to use tamper proof tape on it or something.

I don't have much heating knowledge - I just change the odd rad/valve. Am I right in thinking changing it to a lockshield is pointless because even if set low it will still eventually get to maximum heat but just more slowly? Or will the reduced circulation keep it cooler if it's low enough? I know this is super-elementary but it's not my bag baby.

What type valves are on at present. It will cost about 20 quid a head to buy them.
If you check the lockshield back far enought you can drop the output of the rad but thats a patience game.
Tell him to stop being a tight *******, Its not as if he is not collecting enough rent to have to worry about another 20 quid of gas burnt.

Pretty much the craziest TRV I've seen. It's a like a small computer (big calculator size) on top of each TRV with digital read out. He never learnt how to use them but had them installed to control the student's using too much heat.

The man answered the door in a lavish silk dressing gown at 2 in the afternoon. He had a 3ft high statue of a sphinxon the top the stairs. The rooms he showed me which the students live in where two single to a room. It's difficult to imagine he is anything other than a prikc. To be honest I was less interested in winning the job in knowing if anyone had a cheap easy solution to locking a TRV.

He texted me to compain I was 5 mins late to the quote. Whe he answered the door in the dressing gown I almost said, "I hope you didn't get up on my account."

Yeah that wasthe kind of thing

Sounds like he could have paid for everyone's heating twice over with the amount he's wasted on attempts to stop them turning the heat up.
