The bloke who trained me used an old asbestos meter base plate. . My heat mats normally last a few installs then I change it for a new one.Need to buy a new burning / soldering mat which is the best on the market for both Mapp & Propane?
Never used it. But if it good let me know mate. There all rubbish now a days. Has any one tried the Laco spray heat deflector? I got a small freebie bottle from the rep last week. Haven't tried it out yet and I'm a bit sceptical. I'll try it out on something that's hidden away before I use it in an area that will be seen.
probably wasThe one that looks like asbestos. It was a woven thick thing. Lasted years. (Now I'm hoping it wasn't asbestos).
Gotta watch they don't blow-up in your face....I had a load of wall tiles left over, offcuts and that, so I used them last time, seemed pretty heat resistant.
Dickie dyer burn barrier.
Far out lasts any others I’ve tried, not the cheapest but hey, buy nice or buy twice.

Nothing does, especially my apprentice, can’t handle the heatdoesnt like mapp gas tho
