Hi Guys

Can you all shed some light on call out charges. Just in negotiations with a estate agent on some gas landlords and call out charges was brought up. I have told any work that is not pre arranged and they call up on the day and ask me to go to a property will be classed as a call out and will be charged accordingly, surprise suprise they are not to keen on paying that. What do you all charge for call out and under what circumstances. Ive told them my call out is £35

i'll have to move. £25 for 2 inches of copper pipe, i only charge £5-10 per meter depending on size lol

The price differs depending on time of day etc etc , I have been doing work for estate agents for years but just do a few now as their prices are rubbish , I have even had the really posh ones telling me what they are willing to pay, which between you and me was rubbish . APPROACH with caution is my advice

You will be on a looser there, you are not going to get away with a call out charge for same day works, you will get a lot of that, tenants ring up and want sorted straight away,if you can not cover, agent will move on to next contractor, turn down to much and you will go to the bottom of the list of contractors to ring if you are lucky or just remove you from contractor list
You will have to incorporate your call out into the hourly rates

I have no call out charge, never had, just a minimum charge, you are going to have to learn to play the game, trouble is you may loose a bit, while you do

imho

I agree don't call it a call out charge instead charge a minimum charge. People or Landlords hate call out charges but don't seem to have a problem with a minimum charge. Anything under half an hour is £35 an hour £45 to £55.
