Does one to change a combi boiler into a non combi just need to remove the hot water piping etc or can one just ignore it and just use the heating portion?

Combis need to have one outlet connected

Have a look at intergas combi boilers there the only exception

1. If you never used hot water, the combi would still quite happily heat the radiators as requested, so capping the hot water outlet pipe from the combi is fine.
2. If you capped it by fitting a lever operated valve into the pipework, you could reinstate it just by opening the valve if you ever changed your mind.

Great only asked as have been offered a fairly new oil fired Grant boiler at a very good price but do not need the hot water bit.

Not particularly economic in case of oil boiler, as will preheat slave tank regardless due to the way the electronics are wired.

No you cant

That part is usually an integral part of the boiler, and connected to the main heat exchanger in several ways. It's not quite the same as a gas boiler where you just plug off the DHW inlet and outlet. On these boiler the hot water slave tank is given priority and it's heated before Heating demand is activated.
