Just watched DIY SOS and saw that they renovated a bathroom which had a combi boiler on the wall? Never seen a combi boiler fitted on a bathroom wall before. Does it happen often?

Regs may have changed a little but a combi in a bathroom can be ok dependent on where it is positioned.
As a rough guide tho.
Zone 0. No Combi ;-)
Zone 1 & 2 in a purpose built cupboard only openable with a tool.
Zone 3. No restrictions

As an aside tho the circuit must be protected by a 30mA RCD.

never amazes me , who owned the flat ?

The same chap who ran the takeaway below. The staff lived there, I really should have a look next time i'm passiung to see if the flue is in the same place still, Bizre thing was it could have easily been put in the store room on the floor below with minimal work.

Zone 0 is in the bath or within a shower enclosure, above the bath without a shower facility fitted, is Zone 1.
A boiler, fully enclosed, accessible only with a tool and protected by a 30mA RCD is acceptable in Zone 1.
I stand to be corrected, any 17th edn. sparks got an opinion??
