Hi
As part of a contract I have to know where a boiler flue can exit the building - ie distance from windows ect so the site can be ready for the gas fitter
I used to have a handy on site guide for putting stoves in boats which gave the minimum distances materials ect. Does anyone publish a guide to the regs concerning this and other considerations?
Cheers

Hi SP - The appliance installation instructions generally give guidance to termination positions. Manufacturers websites offer that information if you know the make and model appliance being installed :)

You can down load Building Reulations Part J from the goverment web site free of charge. Department for communities and local goverment. The British standard mentioned is good too, but it costs £162. ouch

Ouch indeed

get your hands on the manufacturers instructions and follow them and steer clear of boundary lines.

Er yes this was/is my fear in some parts of town they extend every which way they can regardless of cost, up (secondary loft extension), along the side of the return, and down (basements dug under the house) so the flue's route is likely to be er 'tortuous' if we are to steer clear of boundary lines!

well you have to make sure it meets the required clearances and does not cause a nuisance. If a neighbour complains about it it will likely have to be moved.
