I would like to fit a whole house filter that removes limescale and the gunge, whatever it is , that forms a scum on the top every time I make a cup of tea. I do not want a salt softener, just binned my last one, as the bugs in my sewage treatment plant do not like salt. Thinking along the lines of something like this

You should not drink softened water, is your water supply from a bore hole ? There are many pre filters on the market , nothing really beats a good softner some more info on your type system would help identify products that are suitable. Cheers kop

Presumably it's Borehole or Spring if it's contaminated.
If it's mains it needs the supplier to sort it out.

Sounds like you don't need a softener, you just need the correct filters.

You need the water analysing to find what it is that needs removing.
Then it will be Sediment prefilters and the appropriate main filter/s.

My Son uses a Spring water source in an Iron / Lead area.
With filters the mineral level is within acceptable limits.

Water is mains supplied. Though we do in fact have a well on site which is just used for watering the garden. The thought has passed my mind regading using this for household use but assumed cost in filtering would be prohibitive.

Your water company are duty bound to provide wholesome clean drinking water which you are not getting i would contact them and get them to vist your property and take some samples for analysis. Cheers kop

Hi bit of a weird issue, I installed a grohe bathroom tap successfully 2 months ago bought from screwfix. Last week the right hand hot tap makes a squeak noise as I turn it on or off, left tap is 100% perfect and noiseless. This grohe tap is like one unit, so no screw notch or way I can remove...

Hello all, I’m replacing a concrete paving slab patio in the back yard. The original patio used 50mm deep concrete slabs on hardcore & sand. I’m planning to pour a 100mm deep concrete patio on 100mm hardcore. In order to achieve the same final height to line up with the rest of the patio, I...
