Hi everyone,

Recently we have been having problems with our washing machine and need to buy a new one. We need to turn off the water supply going to the washing machine but it seems like someone has broken the shut off valve tap/switch (see pictures). Would it be possible to just buy a new tap/switch or does that entire section need replacing?

Cheers

Trace the pipe back and find the incoming stop valve (usually under the sink), isolate the water then replace the isolating valve once you are sure the stop valve works.

And welcome to the forum.

best to replace the washing machine tap

http://www.NoLinkingToThis/p/washing-machine-valve-without-check-valve-15mm-x/51231

also if you dont use the hot one might be worth capping that off with a 15mm cap end (remove the washing machine valve)

Washing machine tap also known as isolating valve in case of any misunderstanding.

If all goes well the existing nut and olive on the 15mm copper can be reused. One pair of grips to hold the valve in place and a spanner to undo & retighten the nut from the valve.

However this means isolating the hot water incoming, different to isolating the cold supply.

if not on a combi yes
