Hi

Im re-routing a rad in my kitchen

The ceiling is down due to electrical work etc so was going to run plastic pipes in the ceiling and then drop down in copper

Is this advisable as never used plastic on heating systems before?

hi fraser no problem at all using plastic in this way, just ensure you have the correct inserts for the plastic pipe.

You could even do it all in 10mm plastic, chase the wall and hide the pipes. You need a plasterer for the ceiling anyway.

one other obvious thing ... NO JOINTS in the ceiling, use lengths of continuous pipe

and make sure if clipping to a joist that they're far up enough that the plasterer doesn't stick a screw or nail in them

lagg the pipework if the ceiling has a roofspace above it, not so important if its got a heated room above but still best to lagg.
