Can anybody tell me if I can convert a stuart turner monsoon (old model) to a negative head type by just teeing in a vessel between hot and cold flows at the pump. Obviously with check valves ??

Oh if only twit was that easy !!
Positive head pumps use flow switches to start them off while negative ones use differential pressure switches to start & stop the pump.
You could try using a non latching pull cord switch wired in so that you turn on shower & pull the cord pump starts just for a moment & then flow switch comes into play & it keeps running until you turn off the shower.
Otherwise buy a new pump !!!!

Best to get a new pump. If the old one works OK you could stick it on fleabay
