I think your considered action is quite acceptable in this matter

You will spend a fortune in paying for quotes that end in nothing

imho

yeah ano, think I'll do just that to be honest, they aint getting my bank details !! see alot of customer reviews etc on google but usual no tradesmen reviews !!

i ask them for 3 FREE LEADS , or a months trial etc and if i get any jobs from them then ill subscribe

do you recommend it ? seems a bit too much hassle to be honest

they made me an account with out asking didnt give me any passwords they call about 20 times a day and keeps sending me emails for £10 should be called annoying people

Hi GQuigley 67

I have just started using them, so far for an outlay of £16 have earnt £365 and in fairness these jobs were nice little time fillers when I didnt have much on and all the jobs were within a five mile radius, so cant complain.Hope this helps.

well they haven't given me a password also for a start but I'll wait to hear more positive views if there are any :p i've gotten 4 txts off them today so far with one or 2 of them being a big job

One thing to bear in mind is that people who use sites like that to find tradesmen will be after the cheapest job possible. I may be generalising but I reckon you would get more than your fair share of nightmare customers.

well they set a "budget" on the site, one was take out old suite fit new and retile floor, budget £500 !!!

Agreed, but you have the choice of wether you want to take the job or not. When you get the initial lead you get the budget, from then its up to you. Like I said its ok for a few odd jobs but I wouldnt rely on it.

I did it for about 6 months when it first came out , it's rubbish! every customer is " one of them" why do you think they signed up for it. You will be undercut by everyone and will cost you £250 a month easily, do yourself a favour and spend it in a local magazine or on other forms of advertising it really is so vexating when you pay say £10 for someones number as soon as you get the text and they just say " oh I think my husbands just going to do it himself now ! I hope they go bust.

the guy phoned me up today tried to get my details, I said let me try the free lead first and get back to you, well I think I'll tell them to bolt when they phone now :)

well ive made over £600 in the past 5 weeks just doing small little jobs for them so it has worked for me
though i do agree some of the budgets set by customers are way too low but these you just dont take and leave them on the shelf
picked up a good few cp12s and as this is repetitive work cant complain

Exactly Steve, its a judgement call at the end of the day. If you have any sense you make it work for you.

True, you win some, you loose some but you have to remember theres only going to be a certain amount of plumbers who have subscribed narrowing down the customer choice. Generally I have found they take you up on your offer.

do you get every job you quote for anyway??
yer pays yer money yer takes thee chance thee na,s

How do they know your a good Plumber Bob?

£40 membership every quarter though ? plus the money you use to quote for jobs your not gauranteed to get ?

and you can post jobs of what you've done and people post ratings for you to know if your good or not

As i was reading down i was just going to comment as Bart has. Steer clear of the scum side of the market if you can.

if i picked out the local paper and look at the adverts i could point out a few people i know aint exactly the best but to a customer without any contacts and yes there are some how will they know so yes ,they will use these sites not all of the jobs are under funded and if judging by the return i have had im happy and if that is the scum bring it on

Boy you are right!

I use freeindex, which does the same for free.

Right bunch of bargain hunters though. The only job I have got of there, the customer have indeed turned into nightmares. I am thinking of removing my listing . . .

They dont, but how does anybody know your a good plumber until you have completed the work, even if you come recomended. The general rule of thumb is once you have done the job and been paid the custard puts a recomendation on the site which others get to see, then they can make an informed descision as to who they use. In fairness I think your all getting a little hot under the collar over this company. There never going to make us rich, I have used them for a few fill in jobs thats it. All my regular work comes from referrals and local village mags...

just seems like another expense i can do without at the moment though as I'm just starting up

Has anyone tried yourworkman.co.Uk looks like a similar type of site but completely free - unsure how they make money though!

Ironically, Freeindex used to be great until they started introducing the get a quote service. Now, up to 5 tradesmen can come and quote for their project. So now it's just another site that promotes getting the job done as cheaply as possible. And people wonder why cowboy tradesmen are a problem!

I get the odd job off of it, but I don't bother responding to the quote request, just the ones where people phone me directly.

ok another problem i have with this site is I cant get any heating jobs, because I dont have Part P !! apart from the fact Part P isnt relevant in Scotland I believe and I have a qualified Electrician to sign work off for me

Rated people is one big rip off, it is geared towards the customer putting the ball in their court. You have to pay for their contact details then THEY tell YOU how much they want to pay and you might not even get the job. Web sites like this encourage time wasters and penny pinchers and there is always a desperate plumber out there that is willing to undercut your price even without looking at the job, the only winners here is the website that charge you £48 per month and anywhere between £10-£70 per lead (customers phone number) which 2 other plumbers are also allowed to purchase, this encourages cut throat tacticts where plumbers are undercutting each other in desperation driving the prices down. More importantly the customer senses this and plays one against another putting the ball in their court. I do not recommend this to anyone a very frustrating way to try and get work and the majority of the time ending up costing you money. Avoid at all costs for the sake of your dignity and the future of plumbing.

used them few times but price for leads with no guarantee of getting job is too high. well we live in world full of scammers

See that PlumBob as done OK, but is this due to him being in country area ? say's he gets a lot from village mags ! so maybe not to meny plumbers in his area , but what about city /large towns where there is a lot more guys chaseing the work will it be the same for them ??
