Discuss Remove Old Unused Flue Pipe? in the DIY Plumbing Forum area at PlumbersForums.net

Hi, long story short, our boiler has been replaced with a combi and the loft and airing cupboard are now devoid of tanks and pipework, except....

... this old flue pipe, which was once connected to the original boiler when our home was built in the mid-80s.

It runs from a vent on the roofline, into the airing cupboard and stops. Theres a gap between it and the floor below it which has a hole with disconnected copper pipes still in situe and some sharp, shredded metal pieces. Remnants of the original install.

I'd like to remove the pipework as it's no longer needed and cap it off at it's highest point, leaving the top part fixed into the vent as is as we have no plans or money to convert the loft.

Also, the installers before last butchered the flooring in the airing cupboard in the early 2000s. I'd like to take it up safely without damaging any pipework beneath and replace the small section so it doesn't look like a child's jigsaw. What's the safest way to go about this please?

Thank you for your time and attention.

Get a roofer to replace a ridge tile and you would be sorted
