Well depending on how long you have been doing this job, you could see more and worse, I've seen things that would make your hair go white, B4 CORGI and the need to report everything, and still come across some very bad sights ,

That’s true. As I said for me it was the first time I ever came across this sort of diy fire. I trust your experience as a qualified gsr... Unless I am asked to touch the offending work, or there is high risk, like live wires, or flue gases danger, then most I do is just advise the customer to have the work brought up to a safer standard.
You can't force a person to have things made safe, except on gas work, as far as I know

Thanks for the warming words, much appreciated. Yes indeed, i have reported it. I did not like the fact how it was installed. Even though Id Be wrong or over sensitive I cared about the safety my customer.For what it's worth Matchless, you did the right thing in RIDDOR reporting it if that's what you did. If someone carked it due to CO poisoning or a house fire and you knew about it you would never forgive yourself.
The HSE will more than likely do nothing to be honest but at least you can say "I told you so", if something does come of it, eh?
