Discuss Service old boiler vs buying new in the UK Plumbing Forum | Plumbing Advice area at PlumbersForums.net

Hi everyone!

Parents not used the boiler since 2013/2014, since installing a new wetroom for them they have now decided its worth getting the boiler running again. The only reason it has not been used i so long is the the zone valve kept getting stuck (would have fixed this myself if i knew!). Money is tight for them at the minute but i am wondering what the best way to go, should i get a engineer out to do a service, maybe replace some parts or should i just bite the bullet and get a new one fitted. Any advice is greatly appreciated

Which have you been looking at replacing it with?

New boiler, Vaillant is my recommendation. Get system cleaned and fit filter, 10 year parts and labour warranty. It will cost but with that particular Ideal boiler and its age, I think you'd be making a mistake spending money on it. Better to cut your losses.
its either going to be Vaillant or Worcester greenstar (link in with the smarthome system)
