I hate to show my ignorance here, but what is an avatar apart from a mediocre film that looked good ?

The little image next to your username, is your own online avatar. So a bit like the film, you can have a character there, or whatever. I'd recommend your logo if your open about who you are business-wise here (not all like to have their business name next to all their posts for whatever reason).
