I'm getting a little sick of this now, I had some Christmas tree lights in my bag (not brought from Aldi) and on my way out last month they triggered the alarm and the manager came running and searched my bag.
Now again yesterday and I had my bag searched in the carpark...talk about embarrassing, I only go in there to look for tools and I'm straight out again.

I carry a shoulder bag and don't wear tracksuit bottoms and do not appreciate being treated like a thief.

I know. With your shoulder bag you look completely innocent. ...

Yes alright I carry a man bag, its supprisingly handy especially with the 5p bag charge.

sue them!

cant search you without adequate proof. next time refuse and run the mill until police get there then sue them for 1-2k

Know what you mean about the 5p bag charge but I prefer the rucksack look myself.

When it happens again I will politely kick off, and take it further.

Guarantee you will get more ÂŁ`s if you throw your Pink bag to the floor place your hands on your hips and throw a hissy fit! lol Go on dare you!

True. Only the police can search with reasonable grounds.
Technically if they imposed themselves on you it is common assault - and they can be sued.

I carry my phone in my inner lining pocket of my coat, my wallet in my pocket and my keys in my other pocket. My bag is for my Niquittin mints, diary, notebook, pens, swiss army knife, sunglasses and assorted odds and sods.

If your walking in the shop looking at the tools and then walking out again, i can see how that might look like you've taken something, but that still does not give them any right or reason to stop and search you if the alarm does not go off,

Next time I'd just point blank say No, if they try to detain you or grab your bag then you can do them for assault and sue them

the manager or whoever needs to learn the law. They have to observe you taking goods with no intent to pay, watch you leave the store before they can apprehend you and request you to accompany them back into the store to await the police. An alarm going off is not adequate indication to demand you return or have a look in your property, as someone else could have activated the alarm! However you need to remain calm an polite, determine their reason for stopping you, warn them of your intention to sue for false arrest and if they touch you in any way of assault! If they get it wrong their bum is on the line if you want to be a *******, ask the cops that turn up to arrest them for assault and see what happens, plod soon gets puzzled. Only know all this as I helped open the first few Lidls over here as a manager, however most of the thieving scumbags did resemble Phil :)
