hi there all wonder if you can help me, i am in the process of having a log burner plumbed into the hot water side of economy 7 heating this will be taking place in a months time my question is i have bought an indirect hot water tank and would like to put this in place and plumb it into the existing pipe work now except the flow and return to the boiler just cap the fittings off to use at a later date would this damage the coil inside the tank.and yes im having a heatas approved engineer to install the fire but not the wet side looking forward to your response many thanks in advance
Dean

Dean, I would get him to do the lot. Solid fuel is a mare if done badly . Solid fuel works on gravity circ. your indirect cylinder may not even be suitable. Is it 28mm coil?

Agree ^^^. A cylinder has to have a coil that specifically suits Gravity for solid fuel, - many do not.
Also, the unused coil does not need capped off.
Let an expert do it.

thanks guys yes the coil is 28mm the cylinder was purchased for gravity feed this boiler is only going to heat the hot water and a heat leak rad not central heating but i am not a plumber guys just a good diy,r thanks very much for the replys though

I would use either a dunsley neutraliser or equivalent as I've done a couple of these systems and your doing the worst of the work anyway as the burner although can be pumped it must be piped to work on gravity incase of power cuts. Also the feed tank in loft that fills the cylinder and vents the burner must have a copper ball valve and fibreglass tank .to cope with high temperatures . If your running 28 to cylinder then the other pipework can be 22mm from boiler to neutraliser. It's a brilliant cost effective system once fully installed .
