hi was wondering if anyone can help me with a problem im having with a riello rdb burner on a warflow condensing boiler i looked at today.it runs fine for anything from 10 mins to 20 mins then loses pressure from 9bar to zero.it then either relights or cycles on and off a bit but doesnt lockout.coil and photocell are fine and oil pump filter is totally clean.convential flue so its not choking on its own fumes so any help wiould be much appreciated.runs great for a while but wont keep it up.

I had a very similar problem with a trianco recently and it turned out to be the photocell even though it was only a matter of months old

its not a balance flue i also tried a new photocell and coil but no difference at all unless the new photocell was faulty

Could be anything. The control box can do that & the coil can do strange things - just saw this on an RDB where the boiler would run for a few minutes & then the flame went out, motor still going & fire up again & it was the coil!
Riello oil pumps will often do same thing & if you are brave enough, it is possible to open the pump & look at the drive into the gearing without dismantling it & can be the drive & first gear worn.

I've got a spare Riello burner and sometimes it's easier to try swapping different components with it and finding the problem that way than spend ages coming up with theories.

I had one like this a couple of years ago, it was ice in the underground oil line.

Kind of assumed this had been checked already, but yes.

no ice as its only got colder since the snow yesterday hasnt been that cold still isnt to bad .the old german looking oil aerator wasnt holding the oil in it when turned off ,and could see the oil lowering in the bowl until the point the flame dropped off but would relight when the oil level went up a little.condensate isnt frozen flue pluming well .going much better and longer with new tiger loop but still cutting off and cycling when it heats up only ,works great when cold.i took it to my house never missed a beat worked perfect on my single pipe system so am thinking even though the flexis arent leaking they are drawing in air after a while?.any help would be appreciated as im now scundered with this one.

Yea, make sure all joints are fully sound & the flexis.
The flexi on the return could be leaking. Check for air bubbles showing in the t. Loop when burner running.

new tiger loop has mostly cured the problem ,a couple of new flexis when the snow goes away will hopefully finish the job off

I had similar thing, air leaking into the return. If you haven't already, check the oil strainer/ filter - if that's clagged up you'll get the same - check pump pressure for stability.
