Hi, it's my first post on this site, so I'll pay for a round at the bar in a minute.

Anyway, the water in our house has a helluva lot of limescale in it :(

I've been told that those lecy wire things that you wrap around the water pipes are a bit pants. Is that true ?

I've been advised to fit a water softener, but they seem a bit pricey ?

What's the most efficient/economical way to eliminate limescale in the water ?

PS, card is behind the bar

That is a leading question, do you have a combi boiler or stored hot water??? A water softener is the BEST but there are other ways of doing it.

i used the large permanent in line magnets when i lived in a hard water area and they worked fine and this was with combis which are prone to scaling up
