So it turns out we've been doing this plumbing lark all wrong,
Spending money on flux solder blow lamps and gas all's you need is a bit of silicone and some tape!

Went to a call out where there was a leak on gravity fed system when the boiler is on,
I found under the floor a tapped and siliconed up tee,
First I thought it must have a pin hole or slight crack on the joint, but after draining down I was wrong

The straight part of the tee was soldered all fine, but the branch was just pushed in and silicone smeared round then tapped up...

Silicon rescue tape is what you need, no gas required, may turn out a bit dearer in the long run though
Seriously though, it got me out of a tight spot on my fishing boat after a water hose split
Now I always keep a roll on the van and one on the boat

I don't see the point in doing a bodge as a long term solution though, the funniest part is the fell who's house it is, is minted and doesn't scrimp on anything at all
