Discuss Would you replace an old Ideal FF360? in the Central Heating Forum area at PlumbersForums.net

I have an old FF360 I was thinking about replacing, but in the end it just does not seem economical. It is rated at 78% efficient, so I suppose a new boiler might be able to shave 10-15% off the gas bill, but would that realistically pay for itself? It looks like parts for the Ideal are still widely available, and not so expensive. It looks really simple with not so much to go wrong. Would it really save me money to replace it?

It would take a few years to pay for itself, and it’s not just the boiler that you need to worry about, inefficient, unbalanced radiators can cost money as can lack of insulation. If it’s not broke and not problematic, then why bother?
