    Went to service a gas fire and the customer didn't have the MIs. Not a problem, I can try and look it up online, except that the data badge was so old and black, all the markings had gone. I couldn't tell if the fire was above or below 7kW, so if it needed ventilation or not. What would you have...

    I've got an inset fire which is slightly too big for the opening - the seals can't press against the front. How can I reduce the opening by a couple of cm either side? I think just mortar/fire cement won't be strong enough as the seals will be pressing against it. The mortar may crack too...
