    On - line merchants

Oh yeah I forgot that. As I said it's ok when your working on site and can get stuff delivered but for spares or consumables when you doing small jobs is a nightmare. Hwos delivery point is handy but parts dont get there before 8 like the merchants Which is why I try and use local. My local...

    On - line merchants

Might be a stupid question. When you order things online where do you get them delivered to? No good being cheaper if you have to sit in all morning waiting for it to come. I used to use William's which was good when I first set up as I was quiet but now I cant be sat around waiting for...

    On - line merchants

I needed a pcb for an obsolete boiler. Got one from keeptheheaton came with 2 security stickers on one opened one not. Looked at pcb and it's obviously been fitted before so refused to use it. Contacted them and guess what nothing back. I try and avoid using online wherever possible but the...

What do you think of my plumber?

There are so many different makes and models of boilers and even with every single manual to hand you still may need to speak to the manufacturer as they dont put everything in the manuals. To try and stop homeowners fiddling. Personally I dont come across many 10 year old boilers that need...

    glow worm flexicom 30cx

If the boiler is still lit then I would be looking dhw temp sensor myself. If it's going out then possible blockage.

    Doing cp12

Most companies I've worked for were 8 a day 1 hour per job. If you are just doing a cp12 then note down the faults categorise them accordingly and cap off if required. You are not there to service it or fix the faults etc think like an mot they note it down and then charge to repair it.

Does anybody know of a place that does training on agas

As above really any body know anywhere that does training on agas? I turn down quite a few and want to start working on them. Aga themselves wont touch you unless you work for one of their companies and I cant see them subbing to me when I have no experience on them.

    Doing cp12

I like them but I do get bored of them very quickly if I'm just doing them. Also sometimes they can be hard work like when you have an upstairs flat with gas meter downstairs and you have to run up and down 8 flights of stairs for gas rates etc. I used to like 3/4 a day then fill the rest of...

    Hvp magazine

It is neat like really neat but its using pressfit so sorry to sound insulting as long as you have wire wool a spirit level and enough time I would expect a 2nd year apprentice to be able to do that. Also what is the point in the deaerator on a sealed system? the valves under the boiler that...

    Time on Jobs

I'm sure every one has had systems that have had systems that have been a nightmare to fill. But if I priced 3 hours to fill every open vented system I would spend a lot of time sat around. I've never vent filled and the only time I've ever back filled a system was about 15 years ago on a...

    Time on Jobs

A lot of bosses I've had turn up at 9.50, 10.20, 12.50 and 13.35 just to make sure your breaks are not too long.

    Time on Jobs

Pick the worst one of the lot. Next time they run over give them a verbal warning. Just say that you do not feel that they are doing the required amount of work and you cant afford to keep them if they persist at that pace. Word will pass to the others within 10 minutes of them leaving the room...

    coolag Alfie

Fix a bit of timber then drill through it they cant move it then. You also have decent fixings for your fast fix kit.

    Time on Jobs

Toughen up and be their boss, not their friend. That's the best bit of advice. The last company I worked for he wanted to be everybody's best friend and people just took the mick.

We recommend City Plumbing Supplies, BES, and Plumbing Superstore for all plumbing supplies.
