I have a question that I’m hoping those of you who are experienced central heating engineers may be abler to throw some light on. But first I need to tell you about my system, and the problem I’ve been having. Just over 7years ago I had a new CH system installed in my small semi. I say new – in...
Update: I discovered the relevant setting is in the VRT350 installer level menu. The service date was set to today (I've no idea who did that). I just set a new date next year, and that fixed it.
I had a look at D.084 (Maintenance indicator: number of hours until next maintenance). It was set to "---" (i.e. deactivated. I tried setting it to a value (which made no difference) and then put i back to "---" The controller still shows the spanner message.
I have a Vaillant Ecotec Plus combi boiler that was installed just over 6 years ago. It has been serviced annually, the most recent service being about 2 months ago. The controller is a Vaillant VRT 350f wireless type. Recently a spanner symbol and a “Service Heat Generator” message have...
What tends to happen is that the tallest upstairs radiator has to be bled two or three times during the first couple of months after draining & refilling, and then no more air collects. Once that process has finished, the boiler pressure is steady - i.e. the system doesn't need re-pressurising...
Thanks for that. I plan to check what's printed on the pipe as soon as I can find time to lift the floorboards. I can't think where else air could be getting in. Also I don't have air collecting in the radiators apart from during the first few weeks after draining and re-filling the system.
Five years ago I had a new central heating system installed. The pipework for two of the radiators was done in plastic, running under the floorboards. Although the system was dosed with plenty of Sentinel X100 inhibitor, after about 18 months the water suddenly started to go brown, and I had to...
Just to complete the story on this, I thought I would say what I did in the end. I realised that I couldn't get the flush pipe out (to renew the seal) without removing the WC pan. Also some plumbers reckon that the seal is not very reliable. So I didn't fancy going to all that trouble (or paying...
Thanks (that's what thought) but my first problem is how to release the rubber seal & clip. Do I need to prise the clip away from the boss somehow? With the pan and cistern in situ, I would be working blind so that could be tricky. Or can I just give the pipe a good tug downwards? Or is there...
