    Vaillant F23 fault, Reading

    F23 being a circulation fault could point to pump, flow and return sensors, deposits in heat exchanger etc. Tackle the pump first. Check filters and bypass settings (if fitted, fit one if it hasn't got one, its external to the boiler) and that the pump overrun is wired in correctly.

    Stick with heat only. You most probably still require an additional expansion vessel due to system volume if its got underfloor heating and you wouldn't gain anything by conversion to a system boiler apart from more things to go wrong.

    Replace with an equivalent thermal store, but keep controls external. Replacements are available. You’ll never get the same flow rates from a combi or unvented to match this.

    A prerequisite of 3 bar and 20 l/min is required generally for any unvented install. If this deviates it will need to be countered. To increase flow bigger pipe, to increase pressure you need to boost. Before deciding what is best get water supplier to measure both at boundary.
