Dear forum, hopefully a simple one this...

What kinda fitting is this and is it safe for a complete noob like me to remove and put back without leakage?

Seems like I should turn the round brass ridged thing with some mole grips carefully while holding the body with another. Am always weary when it comes to water and especially brass fittings. I need to replace a dishwasher float but need to disconnect it first to get it out. Already turned the blue cut-off a quarter turn (felt a bit of resistance towards the end but should be enough?). Incidentally, why do dishwasher inlets have these sorts of enlarged plastic things on the side? Cheers for any advice!

Yes undo the brass nut

The big things are anti flood devices
Thanks, disconnected nice n easy.

Turns out the float switch didn't need replacing and there's a leak coming out one of the water reservoir connections. Gonna try fill it with clear sealant and hope for the best. 18 year old Bosch so worth a shot.
