Are they even still available? I haven't looked, but I would expect any modern PRV to be expected to terminate outside. I do not do Oil, but gas boilers that had these fitted also had an Vent pipe and a Cold Feed, both of which render a PRV redundant - so they would never be replaced. Is this...
If everything was okay, the downstairs rags would not be suffering when both CH & HW are called for. The greater the demand the slower the response, but in a good set up you would not notice. There could if course be a circulation issue, but the common problem would be sizing.
Pleasr note that...
MOST fires can be refitted with a post made closure plate. Some had special seals which cannot be replicated.
However, the plate may or may not have had an air relief opening, the size of which is specific to each fire. One MUST have the manufacturers installation manual to get the details...
I am gas, not a plumber. But mains water into the house is normally blue MDPE , and is downstairs. Oddities do occur, but I am guessing that is NOT the main stopcock. But could be wrong
As suggested, but not actually explained, the valve body may be sticking or partially seized. What is he actually changing on a regular basis - we are guessing the motor or the head and not he whole thing. In itself replacing the motor or head only is not wrong, but if the valve itself os...
Yea, but JS? It struggles to rate as beer of any sort. Mind you, around here everyone sell Doombar - probably the most boring beer ever. We went to Cornwall a couple of years ago, and was looking forward to trying it there, as it possibly doesn't travel well. But, no, it was still pointless...
Do you mean the appliance flue, or the SE duct?
Anyway, there are 2 things:
“A condensing appliance shall not be fitted on a shunt-duct, SE-duct or U-duct system” [IGEM UP-17, Clause 6.1.4]
and
I am not entirely sure about when this comes into force, but there is/will be a ban on new or...
IIRC, this came up some time ago, so there must be something about either the rads, the plugs or the people that by Kudos radiators (Screwfix?)
My answer will be the same. I just use a very large screwdriver and turn the plug off. not necessarily straight on, of you see what I mean...
This is all covered on the ACS, but I must admit that I just go through the motions as I am never likely to deal with them. But do I recall correctly that you cannot use power flues on a SE or a U duct. Or one of them. ?
The turbulence would upset the principle of operation?
Would love to help. But I have never seen an actual SE duct. Or a U duct.
After nearly 45 years in the game, I was beginning to think they were a myth :)
It keeps blowing the 3a fuse in the fuse spur. I’m think there is a short of some kind somewhere
I suspect you may be right ;)
Have you actually been to the boiler?
Have you / can you use a multimeter? Most dead shorts are traceable within a few minutes. First. talk to client. That often...
The filling loop should have been fitted in a convenient place, normally in the airing cupboard.
Also, there appears not to be an auto bypass - that gate valve does not comply now.
Craig: had they just listed the HEX as leaking, then you are right, it may be enough to declare BER, bit they went...
You may struggle to find someone prepared to put a great deal in writing, and it may cost more than it is worth. I would be reluctant to do so, simply as there will inevitably be follow up enquiries, all taking time. And of course one must be careful not to libel.
You may be surprised to know...
