    Fire Valve requirement

Best, don't want to start an argument, but the Building Regulations Part J are UK Government legislation approved by the Secretary of State, OFTEC recommendations are not, however in Part J under "What is an approved Document" there is a paragraph which says: "There is therefore no obligation...

    Fire Valve requirement

All true, but I can't find anything in the legislation that stipulates the valve has to be a certain distance from the boiler.

    Fire Valve requirement

BS5410 does not specify any longitudinal dimension for the position of the fire valve, except height, unless I'v missed it and you can point it out? 9.3.9 Where the sensitive element is positioned external to the appliance it should be located at a maximum height of 500 mm above the top of the...

Ecoflam Minor 4 electric motor bearing

I sometimes wonder if it's worth the effort of changing bearings when the motors are relatively cheap: Login | Heating World of Spares

    Fire Valve requirement

A bit more research on Fire Valves: Building Regulation approved document J 2002 Section 5 Oil supply pipe systems: Means of automatic isolation 5.6 A way of meeting the requirement would be to install fuel pipework which is resistant to the effects of fire and to fit a proprietary fire valve...

    Fire Valve requirement

As far as I can make out, its only if the tank is being moved or a new boiler is being installed that the remote has to be fitted to an existing installation that is 2002 or older and then only if the boiler is inside the building, a bit confusing if the boiler is outside so possibly best to fit...

    Fire Valve requirement

I have just been looking at the back page of the Regin service forms, under item 2.4 it says "Change wheel type fire valve for remote acting type" is this a requirement that has been sneaked in and passed me by?

Ecoflam Minor 4 electric motor bearing

Can't advise on the bearings, but I use a suitably sized socket to drive out the bearings, and an engineering vice with again a suitably sized socket to the outside diameter of the bearing to carefully press them back in, if there is too much pressure when turning the vice handle stop and...

    Testo 327-1 replacement sensors

Your inferiority complex is showing, I just said I was retired, but I was a Chartered Engineer, that's about the only thing you have got right on this entire thread, but as you well know you do not need to be registered or have any qualifications to work on oil boilers, but as usual most have...

    Testo 327-1 replacement sensors

When I say between each other, I mean one that is regular serviced with new/up to date sensors and one that is perhaps a bit long in the tooth, both sets of readings on the same boiler, would certainly give an indication of how imperative it is to service each year, and before anyone jumps down...

I think paraffin and Kerosene are the same viscosity. On my Testo 327-1 there are setting for: Kero Light Oil Heavy Oil Pellets Propane Butane Nat Gas.

    RDB lockout, ignition sound

Have a look at this: https://www.rielloburners.co.uk/contentfiles/files/RDB%20535%20Fault%20Finding%20Chart.pdf Mike Happy New Year to all.

    RDB lockout, ignition sound

The click is normally the solenoid opening and letting fuel through to the nozzle, if the click does not happen (solenoid fails to open) then no fuel gets through and ignition fails. What Burner is it?

    Testo 327-1 replacement sensors

Would be interesting to see how far out they are to each other, a side by side comparison so to speak could establish what percentage the inaccuracies are if any?
