    Is it a mixer tap? Turn the red wheel valve clockwise til it stops, open the hot tap until the water stops running then you should be ok to work on the tap.... always assuming the red wheel valve works ok. Best of luck

    Forget the combi, go smaller boiler and unvented hot water cylinder, much better hot water delivery as it’s stored at 65C rather than a comb which will raise the temp 35C at full flow, so in winter when the water is colder coming into the house you’ll need to slow the flow rate to get hot water...

    You’d need to speak to gas safe about it, but as far as I’m aware you need to be gas safe to register anything through them which includes unvented (direct or indirect it makes no difference) and as your membership has lapsed you cannot do this.
