We fit loads of potterton golds, 6kw model mainly for residential mobile homes, they're... surprisingly okay. Probably want to go down the 9/12kw route at least if you want to heat your cylinder with any kind of respectable reheat time or you might aswell go for direct.. Gas is king currently.
here we go again  everyone has their faves so you'll pretty much be asking the same question afterwards, ask the Gas engineer who will fit it what he thinks.
i wouldn't have such a problem with plastic if it didn't look so awful, even clipped well it still looks pants. use it where you cant see it and its applicable and its fine.
Someone on here recently said that lpg is about to get massive price hikes, but that could be speculation, so lpg could potentially be a large future fuel cost.
Biomass you need a fair bit of space and requires you to be there to refill/clean etc, so more user labour intensive.
Oil I'm not...
Not sure why he has told you to do that, get a spark in who is heating savvy and should have that sorted for you in no time (assuming it was working correctly before he fiddled with it.)
water softener? would expect ballerfix to be closed. where does the comes out here labelled pipe lead to? if it just loops it looks like there was a water softener piped up.
Fitted one just like the picture you put up the other day (with the twisty overflow), felt like it was actually pretty decent but i wouldn't be surprised if it doesn't last as long, mechanical things like that never do, plug and chain are good because they're cheap and there's nothing to go...
